January & February - Mood Boards & Hope

Since the start of the year, I have spent a lot of my time hoping.

Hoping that the sturdy green spurs of hesperis, honesty, wallflower, sweet william and foxgloves, all planted out in their healthy splendour in Autumn, would survive the biting frosts that gripped the garden throughout January.

Hoping that my nurtured and oh-so-needy ranunculus and anemone pots, fleeced and un-fleeced, watered but not over-watered will yield buds in the Spring and not just an abundance of healthy foliage.

Hoping that the rows and rows of antirrhinum will hold on patiently in the greenhouse until we are frost free and hoping that I have enough space for them all. Also hoping that people like antirrhinum at their weddings.

Hoping that the participants of my Easter Floral Workshops enjoy themselves as much as they did making Wreaths and more importantly hoping that my tulips and narcissi will make an appearance in time so that they have something to arrange!

Hoping that having a wood burner installed in my Studio next week will help keep the frost from forming on the inside of the windows. Hoping that I don’t also need new windows.

And hoping that the many mood boards that I have created for each Bride so far this year, successfully captures the spirit of the wedding florals that they are hoping for.

It’s a lot of hoping as you can see and I’m looking forward to a bit more “doing” from now on…..well, hopefully.
